Saturday Inter-League
The Saturday Indoor Inter-League at Kingsthorpe Bowling Club has been running since 2009 and was introduced by KBC members to encourage teams from across the county to get together when the outdoor greens are closed. The League is open to all indoor bowlers and to those outdoor players who may not normally play bowls at all in the winter. It is also open to both men and women.
The league has undergone several changes since its inception with varying numbers of teams and numbers of games played but the format has remained constant. Cash prizes are awarded to the winners and runners-up.
Our Sponsor
The most significant change in the league for many years saw the introduction of a major sponsor for the 2024-25 season. Northants Testing, owned by KBC member Nick Murray and his partner, Shari Craddock, supplies specialist Electrical & Compliance Testing services for businesses across the UK, providing great customer service and a dedication to safety. They have provided trophies for both Division 1 and 2 winners, together with guaranteed prize money for winners and runners-up in both divisions.
2025-26 League Features
- Rink Fees
- Div 1 – £5 per player per week
- Div 2 – £4 per player per week
- 12 teams split into 2 Divisions
- Div 1 – 18 Ends
- Div 2 – 16 Ends
- Guaranteed Prizes – Amounts as stated, conditional on 12 teams playing and all rink fees paid.
- Prizes for Winners and Runners-up in each division
- Winner in Div 2 Promoted
- Bottom Team in Div 1 relegated
2025-26 Format & Rules
Significant changes to the rules have been introduced for the 2025-26 season to ensure games are played on schedule. A snapshot of the Format and Rules is detailed below but please ensure you read and download the new rules. There will be no exceptions or deviation from the rules this year.
Format
- Start 2.00 pm
- 2 Rinks of 3 Woods
- Div 1 18 Ends
- Div 2 16 Ends
- Home Team to have the Jack
- No Trial Ends
- Only 1 shot counts on the first 2 ends
- Re-Spots on Dead Ends
- Scoring
- Maximum 6 points per match
- One point for each tied rink
- 2 points for each winning rink
- 1 point for an overall tied score
- 2 points for the highest total number of shots scored
Rules
- Home Team to complete the Rink Card and Signed by Both Skips
- Max 12 Players per Team – All Players to be registered by Game 3
- A minimum of 6 players must be registered before the start of the season.
- Teams will not be allowed to play unregistered players
- All Games must be played on the specified dates. (See Rule 6)
- Prize Money offered is based on all games being completed and Rink Fees paid.
