Kingsthorpe Bowling Club Open Day

Introduction

Welcome to Kingsthorpe Bowling Club Open Days. You’ve seen it on TV and possibly YouTube but have you ever wanted to give it a go? Our Open Days provide an ideal opportunity to discover the joys of this timeless sport and, depending on the time of year, we can offer either indoor or outdoor trials sessions.

During our Open Days, we extend a warm invitation to everyone, whether you’re a seasoned bowler or a curious novice. The highlight of these special days is the chance to try bowls for free, allowing you to step onto the green and experience the thrill of rolling a wood towards the jack. Our dedicated team of experienced coaches will be on hand to provide free tuition, ensuring that your first steps into the world of bowls are guided with expert care and support.

At Kingsthorpe Bowling Club, we pride ourselves on our welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. Ours is a friendly club, where you’ll quickly find yourself part of a close-knit community. Beyond the green, we offer an active social side, with regular events and gatherings, providing the perfect opportunity to forge lasting friendships and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with being part of our club. Join us at our Open Days, and discover why Kingsthorpe Bowling Club is the place to be for both the bowling enthusiast and those seeking a welcoming social hub.

Our Open Days take place 3 or 4 times a year and you will be able to come and try anytime between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. We will provide bowls and shoes if required although normal, flat-soled, trainers will be fine.

So why not bring your family and friends along and give it a try? All ages are welcome and we have fun games indoors for the younger ones.

Can’t Make Our Open Day?

If you can’t join us for our Bowls Big Weekend Open Day but would still like to try bowls, either indoors or outdoors, you can have a free taster session with one of our qualified coaches. Just fill in the contact form at the bottom of the page and we will get in touch.

Bowls Big Weekend – Come Along & Have a Go!

Intro to Indoor Lawn Bowls

24th September Bowls Bonanza Open Day - Summary

Building on the success of the Bowls Big Weekend back in May our latest Open Day was held on Sunday 24th September in support of the Northamptonshire Bowls Bonanza. Here’s a summary of how the day went from our Project Manager, Tina White

Once again the day  proved to be a great success. A massive thank you to all the members who helped on the day and to those members who came along with family and friends. Over the six hours, we had more than 50 new people attend the club and see what we have to offer.

There was a vibrant exciting buzz in the club, catering was kept busy all day with the all-day breakfast a great hit and of course the bar was open to quench people’s thirst.

With regards to the bowls, well all the coaches and their member helpers had a full day with all six rinks fully utilised and, importantly, the membership secretary was busy most of the day!

The combination of music, relaxed dress code, food, drink, friendly members on hand to share their own experience of the club and of course bowls, gives food for thought on what we at bowls clubs need to do to attract a new audience for our future to prosper.

So keep up the good work, spread the word, bring friends and family along and see what our friendly welcoming club can offer you.

Bowls Big Weekend 2023 - Summary

Bowls Big Weekend 2023sponsored by Aviva, is a national initiative to introduce more people to the game of bowls and to get them playing. Clubs right across the country are opened their doors during May for people to start their bowls journey.

Our Open Day for this initiative was on Monday 29th May, and what a fantastic sunny day it was. Here’s a summary of how the day went from our Project Manager, Tina White

Just to say a massive thank you to you all for making the day such a success, (and apologies if I have missed anyone on the circulation list. In total around forty members made this event happen on the day:

  • to all the coaches both indoor and outdoor
  • to all the coaches' little helpers (your new titles)
  • to all the catering angels who kept everyone fed and watered (you did a fab job)
  • and to all those who flipped from one task to another in the background
I believe we showcased our fantastic club as a great place to meet to play bowls and socialise. It was great to see so many people in the club enjoying themselves, there was such a buzz around the place. You all did a fabulous job. I must also thank all those who played such an important part in the communication leading up to the open day, distributing over 250 posters and leaflets, pushing the message out on both the Website and Facebook and of course the mention we had on the local radio and to all our members who shared details with families and friends. Of course, the acid test for success will be the number of new members, the numbers for the day are as follows:
  • Visitors to the club 21 plus around 10 family members who came along
  • Six people joined on the day
  • Ten people have booked our taster sessions
  • Six people took membership forms away with them (we will follow these up shortly)
Once again many thanks for what I hope you will agree was a good day for our club.
