Andrew Hunter and Ernie Tredwell

The Hunter Tredwell Open Triples tournament returned in 2023 after a four-year break and was also run in 2024 & 2025. All events have been resounding successes, and all participants and spectators alike say what great days these are.
We aim to run this annually so we’re pleased to advise that it will run again in 2026.

The tournament goes back to 2015 when some of the members wanted to honour Andrew Hunter, a cancer sufferer who passed away in 2014 and Ernie Tredwell, a stalwart of the club who had passed away a few years earlier. Both were long-standing members of Kingsthorpe Bowling Club.

Hunter Tredwell

Congratulations to the Kislingbury ‘A’ team of Ady Cook, Andy Ward and Ade Franklin, WINNERS of the 2025 Hunter Tredwell Tournament held at KBC.
On a sunny, showery, blustery day, they overcame a spirited performance from the Abington ‘A’ side of John Freeman, Tom Manerson and Robin Adams.
Kislinbury took 3rd place with a triple led by Compton Johnson.
4th place was a triple from Nondescripts led by Mick Donohoe.
Our huge thanks to everyone who supported this event, including several KBC Indoor bowlers who ventured outside for the very first time (who knows, we may have some converts for next season).
Thanks to all the organisers and helpers on the day, and to everyone who provided raffle prizes.
And finally, a MASSIVE thank you to our sponsors for the day. Your contributions and support were magnificent in support of our chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.

2023 - A Brilliant Day in the Sunshine

After a four-year break, and on a blisteringly hot day, the Hunter-Tredwell Open Triples tournament was held at Kingsthorpe Bowling Club. Originally played from 2015 to 2019, the competition was held in memory of two great bowlers from Kingsthorpe, Andrew Hunter and Ernie Tredwell, who played at County and national levels for many years.

24 teams took part, split into two groups, with each team playing 3 games of 7 ends. At the end of the 3 games the winners from each group played off in the final and the runners-up in each group played for 3rd and 4th places.

Huge congratulations to all our winners and, indeed thanks to everyone who entered.
